Smart Phones

Our children's pastor has recently moved up in the world and purchased her first "smart" phone going with the Blackberry Curve.

Just to put things in perspective it's like she's jumped from a rotary phone to a smart phone. We're just happy she can make calls on it.

And yes, I'm probably a little jealous. I still want my iPhone.

Just to be fair, she's getting better with technology. She's really doing well with Photoshop and Indesign. Check out her new summer kids program called "Kidzania" here.

Old Car

Have you ever asked yourself the question, "What should I do with my old beat up car?"
Should I sell it? Have it hauled away to the junk yard? Give it to my kid?

If you've ever wrestled with this decision, now you're in luck. Never try to answer that question again.

But this doesn't change the fact that I really can't wait for the movie to be released on July 18.

Economic Stimulus

Yesterday I received a very cool letter in the mail. It was really official looking and had the initials IRS written all over it. I turned the letter over and it said something about an Economic Stimulus package on the back.

I think I remember hearing something about this. So excitedly I open the letter not knowing what will be waiting for me inside.

Much to my disappointment it's just actually a letter from the IRS telling me that in a few days I'll receive my economic stimulus check. They even stab me a little more by telling me how much will be coming sometime in the future.

So as of today, no economic stimulus for our household. Just a cool official letter telling us that we should receive an economic stimulus in the coming days, weeks, years...you never know.

(And please don't ask why we're not getting it sent to us by direct deposit. I don't even know why.)

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Yesterday I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie. I must admit that I've been really excited about this film for quite some time. (Like 19 years!) So I was a little bummed when I read some mediocre reviews before seeing it. So I thought I would give my take on the new movie.

First off I would tell everyone that it is a definite must see. The complaints I kept hearing was that the story was kind of far-fetched and some of the sequences were just unbelievable.

So after seeing the movie myself I would have to agree that the story is kind of far-fetched and some of the sequences were really unbelievable. But after thinking a little more I realized that all the Indiana Jones movies have stories that are a little far-fetched and sequences that are really unbelievable. (Have you seen Temple of Doom? They fall out of a plane on a life raft! The mine cart sequence? And those are just a few examples.) Once I got past that I really had a good time. I think that we build these movies up with expectations so much that nothing will satisfy us.

Overall I really enjoyed the movie. Did I believe everything that was in it? No. But it's a movie people. We go to movies to escape from reality. And on top of that it's an Indiana Jones movie. I would even see it again. And I surely will add it to my DVD collection when it's released.

Go see it. You won't regret it. I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

I spent my lunch today with my two kids. I can't imagine losing either one of them.
