24 is coming

Just thought I'd pass along this little article I read today:

24 Gets Jumpstart with 2-Hour Prequel
Source: Fox
May 15, 2008

Fans have been waiting almost a year for the return of "24." On Sunday, November 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the wait will be over as Fox presents a special two-hour prequel event.

Shot on location in South Africa, Jack Bauer battles an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, the prequel will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season 7.

"We're excited about the prequel because it explores Jack's complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from '24,'" commented executive producer Howard Gordon. "Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone's commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans."

Celebrating its 150th episode this season, the series has resumed production on "Day 7" and will unfold without interruption in its regular time period Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) beginning in January 2009.

Set in Washington, DC, "Day 7" finds CTU dismantled and Jack Bauer on trial. Bauer's day takes an unexpected turn when former colleague Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) returns. Meanwhile, President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) leads the country alongside White House Chief of Staff Ethan Kanin (Bob Gunton) and First Gentleman Henry Taylor (Colm Feore).

A national security crisis prompts an investigation by a team of FBI agents including Agent Janis Gold (Janeane Garofalo), Agent Renee Walker (Annie Wersching), Agent Larry Moss (Jeffrey Nordling), Agent Sean Hillinger (Rhys Coiro) and security specialist Michael Latham (John Billingsley). Although CTU is no longer, Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.

As part of News Corp.'s global commitment to fighting climate change, "24" has pledged significant and innovative changes to its production practices with the goal of saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, "24" is a production of Real Time Productions and Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Jon Cassar, Manny Coto, David Fury, Kiefer Sutherland and Brian Grazer are the executive producers.

10 Commandments of Purity

Ed Young the founder and Pastor of Fellowship Church recently posted his 10 Commandments of Purity which were things he committed to doing in his marriage to keep it pure and holy. Check out the post here.

I thought it was great so I've modified it just a little...I had to put my wife's name in there!

10 Commandments of Purity

1. I shall have no other human relationship before Crystal.

2. Remember your date night and keep it holy.

3. Honor Crystal on anniversaries and special days so that you may live long in the
land the Lord has given you.

4. I shall not take the covenant of marriage in vain.

5. I shall not ride in a car or eat in a restaurant alone with a member of the
opposite sex.

6. I shall not travel alone.

7. I shall not counsel a woman behind closed doors.

8. I shall not share the details of my marriage with others.

9. I shall not watch, read or expose myself to sexually explicit shows, books,
websites, etc.

10. I shall remember the implications of committing adultery.

As a married man in full time ministry this stuff is great. I'm making a pledge to keep these 10 Commandments of Purity to Crystal and in front of all you witnesses!

Like a Child

My daughter gets excited about stuff. She gets excited about playing basketball or softball on her teams. She gets excited about High School Musical stuff. She gets excited when she gets to hang out with her family. She gets excited when she plays with her friends. She gets excited about the Cowboys and the Jayhawks.

But lately I've seen her get excited about church. Every person on her basketball team got an invite to the Egg Hunt. And a lot of them came!

But it didn't stop there. The excitement moved to the kids in our neighborhood. My daughter has become friends with a lot of kids around us. We usually have a group of them outside playing basketball or some staying to eat dinner at our house.

So she started to ask one of them to come to church with her. So the friend been showing up at our door each Sunday morning ready to come to church. Then one Sunday morning her brother was with her at the door ready to go to church too.

Now I hear that the entire family is talking about coming this weekend to church with their kids.

Wow.

Talk about lessons on evangelism from a seven year old.

Are you that excited about God?

Iron Man

We went to see Iron Man with a bunch of friends last Friday night and I must say I had a great time. I actually met one of my friends at the theater an hour before the show and found that the line to get in was already halfway across the lobby! So we get into the line and realize that we are going to have to save 7 other seats when we get inside! I don't know how you feel about saving seats but that's not an easy thing to do on opening night in a full theater. I don't think the other people were as excited for the film as we were.

But long story short we were able to save the seats without getting into any fights (that I'm aware of).

So what did I think of the movie? I'd give it an A-. Now I know what you're thinking, I'm just a die hard comic book hero geek that will like any super hero movie that comes my way. And that's just not true (for example I hated Daredevil, The Punisher, The Hulk and Electra). But this one was really good. I totally bought Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. And the CGI looked incredible. The scenes with Iron Man flying with the Air Force Jets was pretty cool. And the story did enough back story that you knew what was going on without making you feel like you had too much of an origin and not enough action. Speaking of the action, there were some cool scenes but it would have been nice having one more.

I don't expect anyone in the Academy to nominate this movie for Best Picture but if you go see it you'll really have a good time. I think everyone that was in our group really enjoyed it. And it's one that will definitely be in my DVD collection.

And it didn't do too bad in its opening weekend, just under $200 million dollars. The sequel is already set for April 30, 2010. Oh, by the way, make sure you stay through the credits for a bonus scene!

My daughter is so happy. It's coming October 24 and I'm sure we'll be there. More songs to have stuck in my head.

That's right, High School Musical 3 coming to a theater near you this fall.
