Time Flies

I must admit that this commercial is probably all too real. And I must also admit, I think I hate it.

Time flies by way too fast.

Wedgie

As a former youth pastor I've heard and seen numerous wedgies over the years. I can even think back to my Junior High days and times when the "atomic wedgie" was used.

People laugh when they see these things happen in TV shows or in movies.

And it's never cool when it happens to you.

But this picture from Sunday's NFL games really disturbed me. I don't think that girls really understand the impact that wedgies really have. And after seeing the picture I'm wondering if he had to head to the locker room after this play to "sort" things out.

Peyton

Ok, I have to admit that I'm not a huge Peyton Manning fan. In fact, I'm not a fan of either of the Manning brothers. But, the new Mastercard commercial with Peyton is stinking hilarious.

Check it out:

Good to Hear

Now everyone knows that I am a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, so some people will take the following with that in mind. But I just think it's great to read stuff like this, instead of the negative news you frequently hear about pro-athletes.

With that said, read this story by Tim MacMahon concerning the Cowboys famous quarterback Tony Romo:

Further evidence that Tony Romo really is a swell fella

A homeless man who goes by Doc was cashing in change at a Cinemark theater in Dallas when a guy walked up and offered to pay his way into the movie. Doc, who planned to spend his day passing out flyers for a few bucks, accepted a rain check before realizing that he recognized the generous gentleman.

"Was that Tony Romo?" Doc asked the kid behind the counter.

It sure was. Doc hustled across the street to the consignment store that paid him to occasionally pass out flyers and requested the day off. By the time he got back to the theater, "Role Model" had already started.

Romo, who confirmed the story but didn't want to elaborate, waved Doc over to sit by him and his buddy. Doc sheepishly mentioned that he hadn't showered in a few days.

"Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms."

And so the $67 million quarterback and a man who doesn't have $6.70 to his name sat next to each other and shared laughs for 90 minutes or so.

For Romo, who made news by changing a couple's tire on the side of the road on the way home the night of the season opener, it was just another kind gesture to a random stranger. It meant the world to Doc.

"For me, it was a blessing," Doc said. "It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind. I just wanted to say thank you."

Karate Kid

If you're a child of the 80's then you'll remember the Karate Kid movies. I mean, how could you not love those movies? Well, except for Part 3 which was basically Part 1 all over again and I don't even recognize the 4th one that had Hilary Swank in it....but I digress.

"Wax on, wax off." The Crane. Kobra-Kai. And then in Part 2 the Crane doesn't work! So many memories. I even had the Karate Kid hairstyle as a kid.

Well, there's talk of a remake. Click the link to read more about how they're going to reboot the franchise.

What do you think? Smart move or leave it alone?

The New President

I must say that the Praying Backwards event Monday night was incredible. To spend an hour with 200 people from all over the country praying for our candidates and their families was moving. I've never experienced something like that on the internet.

That being said, the prayer time Monday night really put my mind at ease while I was at the polls voting on Tuesday. It was like God kept reminding me that no matter who won that day He was still in control. And that no matter who won that day, I was to respect and pray for my new President. So after casting my vote yesterday I walked out with a new peace about America.

Watching the returns come in last night I realized that history was certainly being made. And as I sat there watching and listening to all the "experts" talk a lot about nothing, I just prayed. I prayed for our new President-elect and his family. I prayed again for the people that will be surrounding him in his new administration. And I prayed for America as a whole, that we would truly become United States. I decided that I'm going to pray for our new President just as much as I have prayed for President Bush. I'm going to teach my children to always pray for their President.

But most of all, last night I thanked God for being always present in our world. I couldn't help but think of that old song I sang as a kid..."He holds the whole world in His hands..."

Prayer

First, read this post.

What do you think? Can prayer really make a difference?
Let's find out tomorrow night. Even if you can't be online, spend time in prayer wherever you are.

9:30 PM Eastern Time. 8:30 PM where I live.

I believe God is going to show up.

Let's do this.
