License Plates

Why don't they make transferring your license plates easy? Good question, I've determined that they could care less about anything called "Customer Service."

After jumping through the hoops back in North Carolina just to get the title sent here to Kansas, I had to jump through the hoops here to get my van "inspected" and then pay big bucks to get a new tag.

The only good thing was that I got there early enough I didn't really have to wait long in line.

Maybe we could get together as states and come up with an easy solution for people who have to move.

Probably not.

Hair Cuts

I think that haircuts are one of the most annoying things to do. I know when I have to get one but I hate taking the time to go. Then when I finally do take the time I hate waiting 20-30 minutes for one.

So I usually drive by one of the places and look to see how many people are waiting in line for a haircut. Then I have to decide if I'm going to stay there and wait or gamble that the other haircut place down the street has a shorter wait.

Today my gamble paid off. The second place didn't have a wait at all. Although it does cost a little bit more.

I guess you take the good and you take the bad.

And I know, my hair is going away....soon I won't have this problem.

Busy Morning

I'm starting a new pattern in my life. As many of you know I am now a member of the YMCA. Not only that, but I've met with a personal trainer to set up a program that I can follow. And I want everyone to know that I'm sticking to the program.

So I head to the Y on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I've decided that the mornings are the easiest time for me to go. Plus there aren't as many people there. So I'm trying to become a morning person.

The alarm goes off this morning at 6 AM and I roll out of bed, put on my work-out clothes and head out. I have to say that I feel better after doing this in the morning.

So I get home at about 8 AM and decide that I'll just mow the lawn before I take a shower. (Oh, remind me to tell you about why I have a new lawn mower...not cool.)

After the lawn is done I look in the garage and see all of the boxes that I need to take out before even one of our cars will fit inside. So I pile them up in the back of the van and drop them off at the dumpster.

I get home at about 10 AM and realize its time for me to take a shower. I think I can be lazy for the rest of the day. I've already done so much.

Wow.

Great Weekend

Well I have to say that we had a really good weekend. I was preaching for my dad since he just returned from Israel last week. So I finished up the series he started two weeks ago. It was fun.

And we had our second Pinocchio Parenting class too. We even added a few new couples to the class! And one of the couples brought scones! Great stuff.

So we had a good day yesterday at Evangel.

They're Back

My family has made it back from their trip to Israel. We picked them up from the airport last night. My kids were really excited to see their grandma and papa again.

I'm glad they made it home safe.

Sickness

It just seems that sickness has hit my family right now. In 10 years of marriage I don't think Crystal and I have had to make too many trips to the doctor. (Not counting when she was pregnant) But it seems that lately both my kids have been sick and I've been battling whatever this junk is that I have.

Crystal is still healthy. Pray that she stays that way.

And I'm praying for my son. We need to find out what's making him sick.

Mexico

This is the week that I would have been on my annual Mexico trip. Sleeping in a little room on the floor with a bunch of guys. Crowded together, freezing from the window A/C, trying to get used to the smell. Spending long days in 100 plus heat. Dealing with problems in the girls room.

Do I miss it?

Well...a little.

Faith

I want to say thanks to my three year old son who reminded me about faith last night.

Sadly, it seems that prayer is the last place I go when I'm facing some kind of problem. Now don't get me wrong, if it's a serious crisis then I'm calling out to God first! But lately I've been trying to handle the "little" things on my own. Then maybe I'll pray about it.

But last night the first thing out of my son's mouth was, "let's pray daddy."

Wow. Lessons from a three year old.

And this is something I've struggled with it seems forever! So I'm starting new again today. I have faith that God can do anything. And He will be the first place I go.

The Dryer

"Marc will you check the dryer vent I don't think its working right. The clothes have been running for 40 minutes and they're not dry."

But I'm in the middle of playing the Wii with Ben. Can this wait?

This is what happened last night about 11:45 PM. The Blackwoods were staying with us for the night and trying to do some laundry for their vacation. So Tom and I jumped up and checked the dryer vent out.

We decided that something was probably lodged in the vent. (We're just a bunch of geniuses I guess.) So I head out side to look.

I have my flashlight and I open the vent cover to find that just at the bend there is a bunch of straw and junk stuck. I'm thinking to myself, I don't want to stick my hand in there! So Tom comes out and he looks inside and discovers the same problem. He looks at me and tells me that he doesn't want to stick his hand in there either!

So I find some gloves and give them to Tom and he sticks his hand in the dryer vent trying to grab as much straw as possible. He gets what he can and then we both watch to see if something flies out. We had to be standing there for several minutes watching the straw telling each other that we think its moving.

Finally after realizing that nothing is going to come out, we take a hanger and try to shove the stuff all the way to my basement floor. I head inside and try to grab the straw and junk with another hanger from the inside.

After 20 minutes we finally get the dryer vent free. Now we can dry clothes with ease.

Life is good.

And I miss the Blackwoods already.

Good Times

The Blackwoods are here for the night. They're staying here on their way to Nebraska.

It's good to see them. We really do miss them.

And I'm not writing this because Kenda is sitting next to me.

Power Point

Ok, I'm really late with this and I just watched it on another blog but it really sums up how I feel about powerpoint.

Sick

It's no fun being sick.

I went to bed Sunday afternoon and pretty much slept until Monday morning. Today I've taken a nap and tried to rest. I think I'm getting better.

Big week this week. No time for sickness.

The Y Pt. 2

So I make an appointment to meet with a fitness trainer since they come free with my membership. Basically I just want to know what all the machines do and want some advice on how to get into a program.

So last night was the first meeting with the training and I'm now set up on a cardio program. It really doesn't seem that bad, or so I thought.

This morning I couldn't sleep so I decided to head over to the Y and get started on this new cardio program. Little did I know how out of shape I really am. 20 minutes is my minimum right now and let me tell you I barely made that.

But I'm committed to this program and pretty soon I'm going to write in here about how easy it was for me to do 30 - 40 minutes cardio.

Next week I find out about my upper body program.

Please pray for me, I really may die.

The Y

Well I have officially joined the YMCA. I guess now I have no excuse. I have to get into the gym and start working out.

My kids are totally pumped about joining. They have this huge outdoor waterpark at the branch close to us.

Should be fun. I may die. Who knows?

Breakfast

I'm sitting here eating breakfast with my daughter. Everyone else is still sleeping. She's having Oreo O's cereal and I'm having Count Chocula.

Priceless.

Weather

Well here I am getting up early on a Saturday morning. Why you ask? Is it because you have two small children who like to wake up at the crack of dawn? Well maybe...but today they're actually sleeping in.

I'm up because I have to check the weather to see if we have baseball practice or not. I am again coaching my daughter's team. How does this happen? Don't really know. But I have to admit that it is fun.

So this morning I find that the fields have been closed because of the rain we've been getting. My practice has been moved to tomorrow. I'm not sure how this will work since I kind of work on Sunday.

Anyway...thanks weather.

And congrats to Lauren and Brandin. We sure do wish we could be there for your big day.
